SIMCO 2800 PTO Means High Torque, Low RPM Power

The SIMCO team recently delivered a new 2800 PTO Drive Geotechnical drill rig to Fresno, California. Set up for high torque rotary auger drilling, the advantages of this configuration are perfect for use in California and other environmentally-conscious locations.

The PTO-driven rig is mounted on and powered by the Ram 5500 Diesel Engine, creating a compact, non-CDL rig. Use of the PTO eliminates the regulatory issues of a deck engine, and it reduces the total rig weight without losing any of the power of the 2800. The 4-speed hydrostatic drill head provides smooth rotation while maintaining maximum torque at lower speeds, putting speed control in the hands of the drill operator.

Other features  include:

  • SPT Automatic hammer
  • Adjustable mast extension
  • Hydraulic off-hole drill head
  • Up to 7500 ft. lbs. of torque
  • On-deck or under-deck compact storage
  • Long stroke mast of 11’

SIMCO works with every customer to build the right configuration for their application, keeping in mind the drilling location, the soil condition, the local regulations, and many other factors. The PTO 2800 Geotechnical Drilling Rig is only one example of the kind of setup we can create to meet your needs.
