Best Geothermal Drilling Rig for Your Next Project

best geothermal drill rigs, geothermal well drilling rig

There is a perfect geothermal well drilling rig for every situation. Identifying the right rig for your company needs is essential. This often depends on location, drill depth and the kind of sediment you need to drill through. At SIMCO, you’ll find four different geothermal well drilling systems, each of which is designed for different environments and situations.

Best Commercial/Big Unit Geothermal Well Drilling Rig

Drilling Rig 7000

When what matters most is size and power, the Drilling Rig 7000 is the system for you. With a semi-trailer truck to handle the indexing drill rod carousel (10 or 16), this  system is able to drill through nearly any possible conditions. Our commercial-grade drilling rig has total drillhead torque of up to 2,900 pounds with drillhead rpm of up to 300. Plus, with a pullback of 29,500 pounds, this is one of the heaviest duty, big unit, geothermal well drilling rigs on the market today.

Best Combination of Power and Maneuverability

Drilling SIMCO 2800

When working in a more residential configuration, you often need a combination of power and maneuverability. The SIMCO 2800 system can be installed on the chassis of a 5500 level truck (Ram 5500 or Ford F-550). It does not need a custom bed, which makes it possible to transport the rig into nearly any situation. The pullback of the SIMCO 2800 comes with an excellent 12,000 pounds (matching the push down weight). Plus, the drillhead torque is a 4,000 ft. lbs. 2-speed.

Best Self Tractor Unit

Drilling 2400 SK-1

This unit can be transported on the rear of most super-duty trucks, yet the caterpillar tracks allow you to direct the unit into the smallest of areas. With a pulldown/pullback of 7,600 pounds, and a two-speed drillhead at 2,400 foot-pounds of torque, it gives enough power for most residential jobs.

Instant Mud Pump

SIMCO Water Pump Station

Have a serviceable drill but don’t have a mud pump connected? The SIMCO Water Pump Station pumps mud and other debris with this secondary pump unit for a cleaner, more efficient drilling experience.

SIMCO offers a series of geothermal well drilling rigs, each of which are designed for different environments and setups. Whether your company handles primarily commercial grade installations or residential setups and you need machinery capable of handling tight spaces, there is a geothermal well drilling setup for you.

If you have any questions regarding these four units, or for information on any of our other drilling equipment, please contact SIMCO at your earliest convenience.
